Obasanjo, who was at the Ooni's palace in Ile-Ife yesterday to pay homage, was received by prominent traditional rulers in Ile-Ife.
As a sign of respect, Obasanjo, who wore his Yoruba regalia, stepped in with other prominent personalities and prostrated before the Ooni,Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
During the visit, Former president Olusegun Obasanjo expressed his support for the move made by the Ooni to unite all Yoruba monarchs.
Obasanjo explained that the unity move by the Ooni was important for the progress of Yoruba land.
He urged the Ooni not to relent in his endeavour to ensure unity, adding that Ife remained the source of Yorubaland.
He said: “I commend the role of Ooni in ensuring peace in Yoruba land. Continue what you are doing, especially your unity course. I am happy with the move taken so far. "It is only a sign of honour for the Ooni to visit anyone. That does not stop Ile-Ife from its position in the history of Yoruba land."
Obasanjo subsequently prayed for the progress of Ife and Yoruba land and apologised for not being present at the Ooni's coronation.
